A Warm Welcome

Hello and welcome to Retirement-Singapore.com.

I’m a Singaporean in my mid-50s, quietly writing this blog on my own. I choose to remain anonymous, not out of secrecy, but because this space is meant to be about us — people entering the next chapter of life, figuring things out as we go, and wanting something more meaningful than just “growing old.”

This website started as a personal challenge to myself. I wanted to learn how to design a website from scratch, to stay mentally active, and to create something useful for others in my age group. Over time, I noticed a pattern among many friends and peers — feelings of emptiness, loss of purpose, and even unhappiness creeping in as retirement approaches. It made me realise how important it is for us to support one another in this stage of life.

I also do volunteer work with SGA and other groups, helping seniors who struggle to maintain their homes. Every visit reminds me that ageing isn’t just about financial planning — it’s also about dignity, connection, and finding meaning in our everyday lives. In a way, I’m also helping myself to keep fit by walking and clocking my steps for Healthy 365 🙂

Personally, I don’t see retirement as “staying at home and doing nothing.” I want to stay active for as long as I can — learning, giving back, earning some passive income, discovering new interests, and shaping a golden age that I can truly look forward to.

This blog is part of that journey.
If anything here brings you clarity, comfort, or a little inspiration, then this effort has already been worthwhile.

Thank you for being here.
Let’s grow into this next chapter together — with freedom, dignity, and peace of mind.
